Backplate keeps books. That’s the whole job.

Backplate Inc. is a bookkeeping company in Monroe, New York, working remotely with small businesses across the United States.

Why the name.

back·plate (noun)

The plate behind a component. Nobody looks at it, but it holds the part in place, takes the load and keeps it true.

That’s the job we do in a business: books that are right every month, so the parts people do see (your service, your team, your growth) have something solid behind them.

Four commitments.

Numbers over adjectives
We publish our prices, our limits and our close days. If we can’t show it, we don’t claim it.
The same rhythm every month
You know when records are due, when the month closes and what you’ll receive.
Checked before it’s sent
Every close runs through the same written checklist: accounts reconciled, nothing left uncategorized, balances that make sense. Problems get caught by us, not by your CPA.
Say what we don’t do
We keep books. We don’t file taxes, run payroll or give investment advice, and we say so before you sign up.

Six things we won’t do.

Your financial information is sensitive. These are lines we don’t cross.

  • Ask for your bank password.
  • Move money without your approval.
  • Promise a tax outcome.
  • Publish a review we can’t verify.
  • Keep your data in a system you can’t leave.
  • Change your price without telling you first.
